Residents affected by flooding in Dorset are being invited to community drop in events this spring. The sessions will take place in Weymouth, Blandford, Winterborne Stickland, Sydling St Nicholas and Dorchester. People will be able to speak with representatives from the Environment Agency and Dorset Council. The aim is to hear about recent flooding and offer advice on preparing for future events. The first meeting will be held in Weymouth later this month.
Residents affected by flooding in Dorset are being invited to attend community drop in events.
The Environment Agency and Dorset Council are hosting a series of sessions this spring where people can share their experiences after severe weather during the winter months.
Officials say the events follow one of the wettest starts to the year on record, with January and February among the wettest since 1836.
Residents attending will be able to speak directly with representatives from the Environment Agency, Dorset Council and partner organisations including Wessex Water.
The sessions will offer practical advice on flood resilience, including signing up to the Flood Warning Service, creating household flood plans and using property flood protection measures.
Environment Agency flood and coastal risk manager Ron Curtis said it is vital to hear from residents about the impact flooding has had on their communities.
Councillor Nick Ireland said gathering information about flood incidents will help authorities plan future responses and support affected areas.
The first event will take place in Weymouth on 21 April, with further sessions planned across Dorset in the following weeks.
