Plans affecting homes, businesses, listed buildings and tourism sites across the Weymouth area have been decided by Dorset Council.

Plans affecting homes, businesses, listed buildings and tourism sites across the Weymouth area have been decided by Dorset Council.

Among the refused schemes was a non-material amendment for the RNLI Weymouth Station at Nothe Parade, where changes linked to the lifeboat station refurbishment included alterations to the original, approved, plans by moving fencing at the eastern end of the building to create a bike storage area. Council planners decided the proposed changes would alter the character and heritage impact of the site and have an impact on homes directly to the west of the site.

A certificate of lawfulness for land use as a campsite at Shortlake Farm House, Shortlake Lane, Osmington, was also refused, the council deciding there was insufficient evidence to support the campsite use over 10 years or more, one of the tests of a lawful use application.

Also refused was an application for front and rear decking at 20 Lennox Street, already in place which the council decided was not lawful;  and an application for raised terrace and boundary fence at 22 Weyview Crescent, the council deciding that the structures would be ‘overbearing’.

Several town centre and harbour-side applications were approved. Listed building consent was granted for repairs and replacement works to windows, doors, fanlights and a porch canopy at 44 Dorchester Road, while work at 13 Custom House Quay, the former Stables pizza restaurant, including changes to upper-floor layouts, replacement windows and doors, brick repairs and repointing, was also approved. Replacement signage at the Old Rooms Inn, Cove Row, and shopfront-related works at 26 Trinity Road were granted consent.
