Campaigners hoping to bring part of France Quarry on Portland into community ownership are appealing for donations before the end of the month.
Future Portland is trying to raise the final £1,470 needed to cover upfront legal costs linked to buying two acres of France Quarry.
The group says it needs £5,000 in total for non-refundable legal fees, with £3,530 already raised through donations and a recent art auction.
Organisers have set a deadline of June 30 to reach the target.
They say donations are being used for legal costs, while separate pledges will later be called in to help fund the land purchase and any immediate maintenance work.
If successful, the land would be protected and brought into community ownership, securing public access for future generations.
